Favorite Quote

Day 2 - Favorite Quote or Saying
Ok, this one is a hard one for me because I have so many favorite quotes. Here's just a couple.

"In three words I can sum up
everything I've learned about life:
it goes on."
Robert Frost

"Patience is not passive resignation, nor is it failing to act because of our fears. Patience means active waiting and enduring. It means staying with something and doing all that we can - working, hoping, and exercising faith; bearing hardship with fortitude, even when the desires of our hearts are delayed. Patience is not simply enduring;
it is enduring well!"
President Dieter F. Uchtdorf.
(You can read the entire talk here)
:)
Or watch this video:
(I love these Mormon Message YouTube videos)

"Let us relish life as we live it, [and] find joy in the journey."
President Thomas S. Monson
(Basically the entire talk is amazing, so you should definitely read the whole thing)
:)
Or watch this video:

"Every song has an ending, but is that any
reason not to enjoy the music?"
Peyton - One Tree Hill

"I think we have to go through all of this stuff
to get to the places we want to be."
Lucas - One Tree Hill
(Don't judge. I love One Tree Hill.)

Recap of yesterday:
So, remember how yesterday was my first day tutoring? Yeah, guess what the kid needed help with? MATH
I seriously about died.
I looked at his homework and I had never seen the problems he was working on or anything like it in my life I swear. Luckily, Someone was looking out for me and really guided me through helping the kid. I said I silent prayer to myself after I saw the kid's homework just asking that I would be able to remember how to do the problems and help the kid. At the end of the tutoring session, the boy was so happy that I was his tutor - he even told me that I was better at teaching the things to him than his teacher was. Now I just hope I taught him right :). Haha. Such a great experience!!
I totally felt like this parent yesterday. Hahaha!
A positive (and a negative) for today:
Positive:
I am officially going to this event this summer:
and I will be watching this amazing man for the
3rd time live:
I will be going with my two older sisters and
my brother-in-law. I cannot wait!
Brad Paisley at my BYU Lavell Edwards Stadium?!
Oh... I love my life.

Also, my BYU Cougars have moved up to #3 in the AP polls and #1 in the CBS Poll. We are rockin'!
Kind of hard to see it, but I was super excited about the polls, I had to capture it. Now let's just hope we keep it going in the NCAA tournament!

But...despite the fact that we have had such success in basketball this season, there was some awful news last night. One of our starters will be out the rest of the season because of an honor code violation. NEGATIVE. Major NEGATIVE of the day. I was pretty upset when I heard the news. I mean, we do sign an Honor Code when we come to this school. It's no surprise. I am just pretty upset that the player would do that. Really? He knew what the consequences would be. So dumb. Sooo dumb. But, I am proud to go to a university that enforces the things that they stand for. So, good for you, BYU.
You make me proud to be a Cougar.
To the player: While I am pretty upset about you leaving our team, I find it very admirable that you turned yourself in. I can only imagine how hard it would be to do that, especially knowing what the consequences would be and the media attention that would come of it. Despite the fact that you made a mistake, you have my respect for doing the right thing. Even if someone "tattled" on you, and you decided to own up to your mistakes, good for you for taking responsibility.
(I definitely changed my mind after reading the articles on the situation.)

  1. Mormon messages are the best. I swear I'm typically in tears by the end of most of them. That's really cool that you're tutoring. I think I'd die too if it was math. But you're smarter than you think. I think I'd say, "good luck, kid". Haha
